Acupuncture for Brain Health: Focused Support for Cognitive Wellness
Faith Acupuncture, located in Richmond Hill, is dedicated to one specialized area of care: promoting brain health, memory support, and cognitive wellness through acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Few clinics in York Region focus specifically on the connection between neurological health and TCM-based care.
Rather than operating as a general acupuncture clinic that treats a wide range of concerns, Faith Acupuncture is centred on supporting individuals and families managing memory-related and neurological challenges. This includes concerns related to cognitive wellness, mild cognitive impairment, dementia, Alzheimer’s support, and age-related cognitive changes.
The clinic’s acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine services are intended to complement conventional healthcare, not replace it. If you or your loved one is already receiving care from a neurologist, memory clinic, or healthcare provider, those medical relationships remain an important part of the care journey. Simon Lau works alongside existing treatment plans, combining Eastern and Western perspectives to support overall well-being rather than replace medical care.
Meet Simon Lau: A Background Rooted in Cognitive and Brain Health
Simon Lau, founder and practitioner at Faith Acupuncture, began his clinical journey in a dedicated Memory Clinic, where he worked not as an acupuncturist but as a registered Occupational Therapist. In this role, he conducted cognitive assessments and provided structured memory training programs for individuals living with dementia.
Before pursuing a career in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Simon spent five years working within Hong Kong’s hospital system. Between 2009 and 2011, he worked in a Memory Clinic within the neurology and geriatrics department, supporting patients experiencing dementia as well as the families caring for them. His clinical experience later expanded into psychiatry and orthopedics, including work with individuals recovering from traumatic brain injuries.
Years of direct patient care gave Simon firsthand insight into how cognitive conditions develop, progress, and affect everyday life, not only for patients but also for their caregivers. His understanding comes from practical clinical experience and ongoing patient interaction.
In 2018, Simon earned a Master of Chinese Medicine from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and transitioned into full-time Traditional Chinese Medicine practice. Since then, he has treated a wide range of health concerns through TCM. Today, he is intentionally refining his focus by combining his occupational therapy background in cognitive health with his Traditional Chinese Medicine expertise to support brain health, memory concerns, and cognitive wellness.
